What would I create?

I would make an animation where characters form different cartoons collide in one room and start asking why they are there then something random happens and the ninja monkeys start squealing and the bunny panics and starts biting people and the cat starts scratching someone and everyone ends up bloody and in different parts. blood drips down from the top of the screen to the bottom and it's over.

Bone Structures

I learned that I have to be careful of where I place the joints. I also learned that there should be more frames between poses to make it more fluid, but not jerky. I also learned that this is easyer than I thought, but the attention to detail makes all the difference as well as how exact you are.

Give and Take

With the new seating arrangement I will probably do better this six weeks than the last two because I wont waste time talking and getting distracted by those around me.
I will benefit those around me by helping new people arround me that usually don't ask for help, I guess.

Adding Sound

If I had to add sound to a past animation I would add it to the seasons animation and put festive music for each season like christmas in the winter and halloween in autumn and birds chirping in spring.

The first one I would add a segment from the Nightmare Before Christmas movie soundtrack. I would add a layer called autumn_snd and make it play from frame 1 to frame 60.

The second one would be christmas music like the bells jingling or sleigh sounds or whatever from frame 61 to frame 140 in a layer called winter_snd.

The third would be birds chirping and kids laughing from frame 141 to the end in a layer named spring_snd.

Masks and Masked and how to make them!

  •  Create the masked layer.
    1. In this first layer you will create the object that will be shown through the mask. It can be text or an object.
    2. Name the layer something like Masked_layer or something so you can identify it.
  • Create the mask layer.
    1. Insert a new layer. This will contain your mask.
    2. Create a shape or object that will be sort of like the window you look through to see your background.
    3. Convert your object to a symbol and insert a tween or do frame by frame animation to make your mask move around the stage.
    4. name your layer something like mask_layer or something to help you identify it.
  • Edit layer Properties
    1. Select the Mask Layer
    2. Go to the "Modify" drop down menu in the menu bar and click "Timeline".
    3. Select "Layer Properties".
    4. On the pop-up menu change the layer type from normal to Mask.
    5. Click the lock check box then click ok.
    6. Select the Masked Layer
    7. Repeat steps 2&3.
    8. On the pop-up menu change the layer type from normal to Masked.
    9. Click the lock check box then click ok.
    10. Test your movie.

Action Script and Buttons

To create the Car Race animation:
  • You have to make a stoplight button that will start the movie to make the cars go.
    1. Add a new layer and call it signal. It will house the stoplight button where you will click to start the movie.

    2. Click the rectangle tool.
    3. On the properties panel change the color to gradient will the red going to black.
    4. Under Rectangle Options slide the scale over to 5.00.
    5. Make a rectangle and center it over the words "Finish Line"
    6. Under the Free Transform tool change it to Gradient Transform tool and click on the rectangle.
    7. When a circle appears around the rectangle, center the gradient and make the circle smaller so the gradient is more concentrated.
  •  Convert the rectangle to a symbol and modify.
    1. Under modify, convert the rectangle to a  button symbol. Name your symbol b_signal.
    2. Double click on your button, either in the library panel or the stage, so that you can modify it to do something.
    3. Insert a keyframe on the Over frame and change the rectangle color to a white gradient.
    4. Insert a keyframe on the Down frame and change the rectangle color to a green gradient.
    5. Click on the Over frame and select the rectangle tool.
    6. Draw a rectangle over your symbol to create the hit area.
    7. Click scene 1 to return to main timeline and check your movie to see if you can click on your button.
  • Insert Stop Layer and assign a play action to a frame.
    1. Insert a new layer and name it stopmovie.
    2. Click on the first frame to select it.
    3. Go to Window on your menu bar and select Actions to display your action panel.
    4. make sure it says stop movie:1
    5. Click the Add a new item and go to global functions, timeline control, and stop. this will make your movie stop at the beginning so it doesn't start till you click on the button symbol.
    6. Click frame 65 on the stop movie layer and repeat what you did to layer 1. this will make the movie stop at the end.
  • Assign a Play action to a button.
    1. Click the button on the stage an make sure that b_signal is shown in the actions panel.
    2. Insert an action by clicking on the Add button and selecting Global Functions, timeline Control, Play.
    3. Test your movie.

    DIfference Between Bug and Car

    1. The car was a motion tween and the bug was animated using frame-by-frame animation.
    2. The bug was something we made ourselves, while the car was something pre-made.
    3. The bug had more layouts inside our motion clip symbol.
    4. The car animation was something we drug in, but the bug we did it in the actual symbol.
    5. We used different types of rotations in the animations.
    6. The explanation process was also different and the car was very fast paced but the bug was slower and more comprehensible.

    Movie Clip

    1. First you break apart your symbol.
    2. Then you select the parts that you want to move and make them into a movie clip symbol.
    3. Make sure to change the symbol from graphic to movie clip before clicking ok.
    4. When you double-click the symbol (either in the library or in the stage) you will no longer be inside scene 1, you will be inside your symbol.
    5. Your symbol will be the only thing on your stage.
    6. To tween your object it will ask you if you wish to make it a symbol. Click ok.
    7. Let your creative juices flow and make your object move.
    8. To go back to Scene 1, click on the Scene 1 link on the top left corner of your stage.
    9. Test your movie to see what your object moves like.

Project Plans for this Week's project

I will make an aquarium with fish that swim using Moving Frame by Frame animation.
The fish will move side to side like real fish and there will be multiple fish.
The stage will be the water and maybe I'll put some motion tweened bubbles in the background as well.
I will also have decorative elements in the background for the fish to move through.
I hope I can finish, but maybe it will just be one fish swimming around.

    Project Critiques

    Pink Butterflies
I like it because although it's simple, in the future if we have smart walls i would like that as a wallpaper.

Hobo to Megaman vs Monster Version 2
Edit your pictures, clean it up, make the hobo instance longer. I don't get what's going on.

    Futbol
Ball needs to be in front of net. More movement. Didn't follow assignment requirements.

    Elaine
    It met the requirements.

    Untitled Mushrooms
Very entertaining and cute. You could have made the mushrooms green in fireworks and made them fade out on Flash.

    Leap Frog
    Good story. I like it.

    Mine!!
I like it, but I would have taken more time to make the characters more mobil, and maybe add sound, but no one wanted me to use their voice :(

    Mario VS Karate Kid
Edit your pictures better, and use more techniques. otherwise good.

    Star and Heart
    Meets requirements, and is cool!

    NBA
Cool! I like the movement its a good story

    Grr
    Cool I like it!

    Tommy and Shaggy
Good, but slow down a bit and a few glitches.

    :)
Good but you could have used more animation techniques

    DFC Dragon Eats Chicken
Good but you should have worked on it a little more. Cool name!

    Chicken Fear
They should have made the stage bigger.

    Animations I Used

    Motion tweens
    Motion presets
    Shape tweens
    Symbols

    Motion Tweens and Shape Tweens

    Similarities
    1. They are both forms of Tweens.
    2. They both make objects move.
    3. Both are used in animation.
    4. Both change color.
    5. Both can be copied and applied to something else.
    6. Both fill in frames for you when you determine a start and end position.
    7. Both change size.
    8. Both change color.
    9. Both are used in Flash.
    10. Both are shown in the timeline.
    Differences
    1. In motion tweens, you change how an object looks. In shape tweens, you make an object become something else.
    2. In shape tweens you can use guides.
    3. They have different names.
    4. One appears as a blue bar in the timeline, and one appears as a green bar.
    5. When you use a shape tween, the object doesn't need to be a symbol.

Compare and Contrast- Animation Then to Flash

When animation started, every frame had to be drawn out individually where as in flash, you can create a motion tween and the frames would be filled in. In flash you can add on to a picture on a frame, but when animation began, you had to draw each individual frame by hand and start all over to make the images move. The time it takes to make an animation has also changed because now we can animate 2 hour movies, but then it would take a month to create a film that lasted a couple of minutes.
Animation today is also similar to animation when it began because we still use frames. We also start by drawing individual frames by hand when we create a storyboard just like people used to before.

How To Create a Motion Tween

When you use flash to create a motion tween, the first step is to create an object. After you have created your object, you use the selector tool to draw a box around it. This will select all the parts of the object. Next you go to your menu bar and select Insert, then select Motion Tween. You have created a motion tween!
The bar at the bottom of the screen of the screen with the white squares is called your timeline and the blue highlighted part is the motion tween.

    Revelations

After learning more about copyrights I found out that, although Sarah didn't register her copyright, the copyright still belongs to her. I also learned that copyrights don't expire until 70 years after the creator or holder of the copyright is dead, so Ryan was wrong about Sarah's copyright expiring. Sarah should contact a lawyer so she can be advised about what to do because she might have to prove that she was the original creator of the song lyrics and she will have to file a law suit so that she can get credit for the song and get paid what she deserves.

    Copyright Vocabulary

Copyright- A claim that is given to you by law so that something you have created is protected from plagiarism.

First Sale Doctrine- allows a purchaser to have control over the document.
Intellectual Property- intangible property that is a product of the imagination cannot be copyrighted
Patent- you have the only right to manufacture an invention for a limited time, after which you can file for a renewal or other people will be able to produce it.
Permission- having consent to remake or reproduce copyrighted material in some other work.
Phonorecords- new technology that allows us to keep our music in digital format so that we can use it on modern devices.
Plagiarism- to take credit for someone's work that isn't your own.
Public Domain- works whose copyright has expired.
Trademark-  the symbol used to identify an item. The little apple for Apple.

    That Thing About Copyrights

I think Brian has a right to write a song and have the credits be in his name because Sarah had given him the poem earlier and because she had not copyrighted the poem. If Sarah has questions, I think she should contact a lawyer and ask for advice, but I think Brian had a right to rewrite the poem into a song without her consent and without paying her royalties.

    Animation Facts

1.Some of the earliest cartoons were made with flipbooks, which contained images in sequence, flipped by the viewer to simulate movement.
2.To make an 8-minute cartoon with drawings, you would need: 7,000 sheets of paper or 7,000 sheets of celluloid, 150 sheets of cardboard on which to paint backgrounds, 50 felt-tip pens, 10 quill pens, 50 pencils, five erasers, 20 brushes, 2.5 gallons of paint, 1/2 pint of ink, 3,600 feet of black-and-white film to film the preliminary "pencil test", and 720 feet of color film to film the final cartoon. You also need a staff of writers to write a script; artists and animators; a director (just like you do for a movie); voice actors to play the various roles; musicians; sound and camera equipment.

    Animation is...

For me, animation is making drawings move and giving life to them. Animation is movement and it makes things more entertaining. Animation is cartoons, video games, commercials, and is also found many other things. Animation class only began three days ago but I can already tell it will be an interesting class. I hope to accomplish a lot in this class so that I can apply these skills to future tasks.
